The Lunar New Year Gala is held annually at Lincoln Center where notable attendees in the past have include Mayer Eric Adams, Meredith O’Connor, Maya Musk and more. The celebration of the Lunar New Year brings a spotlight on the Chinese holiday with one of the world’s most famous orchestras.

Additional attendees to the 2024 Lunar New Year Gala included Misook Doolittle, who was mentioned by the orchestra on their website quoting
“Welcome a year of victory, honor, and abundance. Join us to honor philanthropist, business entrepreneur, and NY Phil Board Member Misook Doolittle in a celebration of cultural heritage, new beginnings, and music’s capacity to transcend borders.”
The gala includes a performance by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra with a banquet following. It took place on Tuesday, February 20, 2024
Wu Tsai Theater, David Geffen Hall. This was the year of the Dragon with much anticipation leading up to it from Time Out New York, Vogue and more.
Other coverage of the gala included China Daily, quoting Angela Chen stating “Our initial goal was to introduce the Lunar New Year concert to American audiences,” said Angela Chen, the gala co-chair. “But we are glad to see a significant number of Chinese audiences, especially the younger generation, participating.
“The Chinese New Year and its traditions serve as a favorable promotion for the relationship between the two countries. Simultaneously, we also aim to let Americans experience the Chinese New Year, the importance of family, and the essence of love. No matter how far one may be, returning home for the New Year is a cherished tradition in China,” she said.”
