On your wedding day, it’s important to look and feel your best. Here are the top 10 tips to help you stay on track before saying “I do.”
- Schedule a trial and consultation with your hairstylist and makeup artist 3-6 months before your event to ensure everything goes smoothly. You will feel more relaxed and you won’t have to make decisions under pressure.
- Depending on the type of hairstyle, it will take 40-45 minutes to style your hair for the day. Each person will need to spend about 30 minutes applying makeup.
- After you have determined when you must be ready, you can work backward in increments of 30-40 minutes to determine the arrival time for your team. If you have to be ready for 3 PM and need six different styles/applications, then the starting time for hair would be 11 AM and for makeup at noon.
- It’s better for the bride to get her hair and make-up done at the beginning of the timeline or in the middle, rather than the end. You don’t need your stylists to rush the bride if things run a little behind schedule.
- The time that the photographer arrives should coincide with the time the bride is getting ready. Photos won’t delay the day and it will run smoothly.
- We suggest that you do your hair first, then apply makeup. But don’t worry too much about this! It doesn’t matter what order you do your makeup and hair.
- It is always a good idea to have your bridesmaids, or other family members and friends, arrive at least 5-10 minutes before their scheduled time. If things are going well, you can continue the party.
- Arrive with your hair dry. Wash your hair the night before, not the day of. The oils will make your style last longer. Arrive with a face that is clean and free of moisturizer. Your make-up artist applies primer before the foundation. Read more about magazinehub.
- Ask in advance whether touch-ups are included or can be added to the contract. If touch-ups will not be offered, or are out of your budget range, bring along a few essential items: blotting papers, pressed powder, and lip color.
- Ask your beauty team to bring along assistants if you have a big group or an early ceremony. This will save time. If this isn’t an option, make sure that your guests respect their time slots!
